BREAKFAST BOOK CLUB

Breakfast Book Club meets the one day of each month. Students read assigned books (a different one for each grade), and volunteer parents facilitate small group book discussions.The program is open to students in 2nd through 5th grade at THE.

HELLO HAWKS PROGRAM

PTA-run welcome program designed to support new families at Tassajara Hills Elementary. The program offers opportunities to connect with the school community, provides language assistance when available, and helps answer general school-life questions (not administrative or office-related). The goal is to foster inclusion and ensure all families feel supported as they join the Hawk community.

COPY CENTER

Volunteers complete copy jobs needed for the teachers according to the job order form teachers fill out. Volunteer hours are to be determined and you can sign up as often as once a week or every other week.  It usually takes 45 minutes to complete the jobs for one day.

INCLUSION & DIVERSITY

The Inclusion & Diversity Chair assists in promoting diversity education and tolerance, as well as encouraging diverse parent involvement to represent all students at Tassajara Hills. Responsibilities also include attending a monthly meeting held by the San Ramon Valley Council of PTAs Inclusion and Diversity Committee, and providing regular reports to the Tassajara Hills PTA.

HAWK-TOBER FEST

This is the biggest community celebration of the year at Tassajara Hills, and you won’t want to miss it. Families can enjoy exciting carnival-style games, delicious food, music, prizes, and plenty of fall fun. Hawk-tober Fest isn’t just about having a great time together — it’s also about giving back. Every ticket, every game, and every bite supports our PTA programs like teacher grants, enrichment, field trips, and community events that benefit our kids all year long. Bring your family, invite your friends, and let’s make this Hawk-tober Fest one to remember!
 
The Festival Chair organizes and leads a team of volunteers to plan and operate the Carnival. The Chair is responsible for communication with the Principal, PTA Executive Board, teachers, staff, room parents, and the parent community. Sub-committees may include:
  • Games – set up, manage, and staff carnival games
  • Field Events – organize outdoor activities and coordinate volunteers
  • Prize Booth – collect and sort prizes
  • Food – coordinate concessions and donations
  • Volunteer Coordinator – recruit and schedule volunteers
  • Raffle Contest – manage ticket sales and prize donations
  • Public Relations & Communications – create flyers and posters
  • Entertainment – arrange performances and music
  • Arts & Crafts – plan craft activities
  • Sponsorship – connect with local businesses for booth support

FAMILY FUN EVENTS

The PTA hopes Family Fun Nights can be back in person this year!
 
The Family Fun Night Chair position is currently open. Please consider leading one of the ideas below or propose your own. These events can be anything you want. Our goal is simply to build community by providing a safe family-friendly event at school.

HEALTH & WELLNESS

The Health & Wellness Committee Chair meets with the district-level Health & Wellness committee to share ideas about promoting healthy habits at school. Areas of focus include nutrition education/healthy school lunches, physical education and activity, obesity awareness, school gardens, healthy school celebrations, and healthy fundraising.

LEGISLATION

The Legislation Chair advocates for issues that affect students and teachers at the District, State, and National levels.  The San Ramon Valley Council of PTAs Legislative Advocacy Committee receives, analyzes, and disseminates information from our federal and state legislature, and advises the Legislation Chairs from each school on PTA positions taken at monthly meetings.  The Legislative Chair then communicates the latest developments on those issues to the Parent and Teachers at Tassajara Hills.

MULTI-CULTURAL EVENT

Kids holding hands around the world
Multi-Cultural Night is a wonderful, free family fun event where families can visit booths representing various countries, sample foods from all over the world, and enjoy a variety of cultural performances by our students and the community. 
 
This event is amazing and cherished by THE families. But it needs a leader for the 25-26 school year.

RED RIBBON WEEK
This year's Red Ribbon Week is October 25-29, 2021.  The theme this year is “Drug free looks like me."
 
The PTA supports THE Leadership teachers and students as they plan events and activities for the school during Red Ribbon Week. The goal is to increase students' awareness of the importance of making healthy choices and the dangers of drug and alcohol use.  If you would like to help with this event contact  president@tassajarahillspta.org
 

REFLECTIONS

Reflections is a nation-wide arts appreciation and recognition program for students sponsored by National PTA
 
The theme for the 2025-2026 school year is
"I Belong..." 
 
It takes place in the Fall. Students may submit their original creations in the following categories:
•    Dance Choreography
•    Film Production
•    Visual Arts
•    Photography
•    Literature
•    Music Composition

ROOM PARENTS

Room Parents work with the teacher and parents to arrange class parties, collect donations, field trips, schedule volunteer times, and assist with other classroom projects as needed. SCIENCE FAIR

The Science Fair is a new PTA initiative launching in the 2025–26 school year at Tassajara Hills Elementary. The fair will provide students with the opportunity to develop and present projects that demonstrate scientific inquiry and creative problem-solving.
 
To establish and oversee this new event, the PTA is seeking a Science Fair Chair. The Chair will work with the PTA Board, teachers, and parent volunteers to create guidelines, organize logistics, and coordinate the event. This role offers a chance to introduce an innovative program and set the foundation for a new annual tradition at T.H.E.

SISTER SCHOOL

The Sister School program provides support to our partner school in a disadvantaged area of Contra Costa County through donation drives and arranges delivery of items to the school.  Our Sister School is Grant Elementary in Richmond, CA.  In the past, we have held two or three drives per school year, for items such as coats, toiletries, Halloween costumes, and school supplies.

EXCEPTIONAL EDUCATION

Exceptional Education is a PTA committee that supports students with diverse needs, including learning differences, disabilities, speech and language challenges, social-emotional needs, and gifted learners. The committee works to provide resources for parents and staff, promote understanding and empathy within the school community, and advocate for laws and funding that help all students with exceptional needs succeed.

The Run for Education
 
The Run for Education (formerly “Primo’s Run”) has been a tradition in the San Ramon Valley for 35 years. Our 10k, 5k Timed, 5k Fun Run Walk, Mini Run, and this year's Friendship Run, are the primary fund-raising activities for the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports and promotes education in our community in partnership with the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. Together with our 35 affiliates, we annually raise millions of dollars to support our underfunded schools.

STAFF RELATIONS COMMITTEE

Volunteers on this committee assist the nurse to organize and schedule the vision and hearing screenings.

YEARBOOK

Help capture memories for our children by volunteering for Yearbook!  The Yearbook committee assists with taking photos of school events, and designing pages for the yearbook.
